Life Supporting Technologies

Maria Teresa is internationally recognized for her research and innovation work in the field of ICT applied to health and social inclusion. In Argentina, she was the first electronic engineer from her university, the National University of Tucumán, a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, the first female professor in this discipline within the UPM. Inspired by his vision of science, Maria created Life Supporting Technologies, a research group of international excellence, dedicated to the research and development of the Ambient Intelligence paradigm to prevent, care for and promote people's health. In addition, she is the director of the Vodafone Chair and director of Relations with Latin America at the UPM.

Maria Teresa has been a pioneer in research in assisted environments of daily life, contributing to the development of the first reference platform and the specification of standards in this area. Her work has recently been awarded the IEEE Honorary Award in recognition of his leadership in eHealth. Adviser to different companies and health institutions on the advantages of electronic health, she is frequently invited to courses, summer schools, conferences and events related to women and their role in engineering.
